Founded in 2003 by Chris Boone and Don Williams, Capital Land Partners is a privately owned land development company specializing in developing homesites for national and regional homebuilders in the Charlotte area including Mecklenburg, Gaston, Cabarrus, Iredell, Lancaster and Union counties.
Capital Land Partners is committed to developing high quality neighborhoods that will be appreciated for decades to come. Working in partnership with community leaders, public officials, homebuilders and the neighborhood itself, Capital Land Partners strives to create an atmosphere of trust, cooperation and integrity.

Chris Boone is an owner and President of Capital Land Partners. He began his career in 1981 with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers) working in both audit and tax. In 1984 he joined Interstate Securities (succeeded through mergers by Interstate/Johnson Lane and Wachovia Securities) where he spent 18 years, serving as President and Managing Director of their real estate investment banking group and as CFO & COO of CapTrust Financial Advisors, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wachovia Securities. Mr. Boone is a licensed real estate broker in the states of North and South Carolina.
Don Williams
Owner
Don Williams is an owner and partner of Capital Land Partners. Mr. Williams started his career in 1984 as a loan officer with First Union Corporation (now Wachovia), later becoming a vice president in the income property division. He left First Union in 1994 to form Capital Advisors, a commercial mortgage banking and servicing company along with two other principals. Under his leadership, Capital Advisors grew to 17 producers and six offices. Capital Advisors was sold in 1999 and is now wholly owned by RBC Centura Bank.
Mr. Williams continued as President of Capital Advisors until March of 2004, when he left to form Medalist Capital. With four offices in three states, Medalist Capital provides commercial mortgage banking services. The company currently has 27 employees with offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Charleston, and Atlanta. Mr. Williams has over 35 years experience in real estate finance and investments. He is a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina.
John Boone
Development Manager
John joined Capital Land Partners as a summer intern in 2018. He returned the following summer and came on full-time in June 2020 as a Development Associate. His focus and experience at CLP range across project management, investment sales, and market analysis. John has assisted with various single-family and townhome projects including Mint Hill Village, Harrisburg Village, Stevens Grove, Laurel Walk, and Hampton Woods. John is also a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina.
Prior to CLP, John attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a BA in Economics and was a member of the Shuford Entrepreneurship program.
John was born and raised in Charlotte, and currently lives in Winston-Salem. Outside of the office, he enjoys golfing, traveling, drawing/graphic design, and spending time with his fiancée and miniature dachshund.
Wood Boone
Development & Acquisitions Associate
Wood worked at Capital Land Partners as a summer intern in 2017. After graduating in 2019, he joined Baird in their Private Wealth Management division and worked at their headquarters in Milwaukee, WI. Here he focused on investment management and wealth transfer strategies. He left Baird after 5 years and joined CLP in the Spring of 2024. Wood is also a licensed real estate broker in North Carolina.
Prior to CLP, Wood attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a BA in Economics with a minor in Entrepreneurship. He will also begin pursuing his MBA at Kenan Flagler Business School in the Fall of 2024.
Wood was born and raised in Charlotte, where he currently lives. In his free time he enjoys playing guitar, martial arts, snowboarding, traveling, and seeing live music.
